Recent Reads

I honestly think my worst habit is reading a few books simultaneously. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've probably read about 1/10 of my book collection, oopsies. I think someone needs to stop going to Dymocks during their lunch break. Nevertheless, here are three books I've enjoyed recently.

Lolita // Vladimir Nabokov
This one follows a thirty-something professor 'Humbert Humbert' and his fixation on a 12 year old girl named Lolita. So far I've enjoyed the book, obviously it's uncomfortable at moments but Nabokov really does the creepy/obsessive thing well, enough to be disgusted by Humbert but not enough to make you put the book down, ya know? A very controversial book yes, but nonetheless an incredibly impressive written novel.

The Power of Now // Eckhart Tolle
If you constantly feel like your mind is dragging through mud like mine, this self help book might just be for you. I haven't read the book from start to finish but over the years I've read a few chapters to keep me focused on what I'm doing in the present moment rather on the future (which is quite calming if you're currently dealing with a stressful time in your life). It really does rewire how you process your day too, definitely check this baby out if you're looking for a change in your life.

IT // Alexa Chung
NOTHING gets my heart racing more than a biography on a female fashion icon. IT is a collection of Alexa Chungs drawings, writings and photographs which ranges on topics such as her obsession with Wednesday Adams aesthetic to her love hate relationship with social media. It's an easy read and also looks super cute on your coffee table (it's these little things that get me going obvs).
