My cold black heart sings a little when I have the chance to dabble into my savings to purchase....necessary... products. Like these rose gold Zoeva brushes. duh.
The main reason I was in the market for new additions to my collection was that I found that I was starting to cross my personal and freelance brushes together which can be a rookie move so here I am! Finding excuses to buy pretty shiny things, ohhh baby is this my favourite pastime.
Luckily for us companies are finally releasing luxurious brushes that don't cost an arm and a leg. Which when you think about it wasn't existent until the last 5 or so years. I think the main competition for middle range brushes is between Sigma, Real Techniques and Zoeva. Although looking at overall marketing, aesthetic and the finished product quality I personally think the latter has the monopoly.
Anywayyy moving on, I ended up picking up both sets of the rose golden (vol. II) collection since I had the original set and thought I'd carry on the trend. Click here and here to check out the full collection including professional photos of the full sets.
The luxury set includes 8 brushes where as the complete eye set has 12. Both sets compliment each other perfectly although if you do end up buying them both you get a few doubles of their eye brushes which personally wasn't a problem (I always like having a clean backup) but could be a deal breaker to other people. It's just something to keep in mind. Both sets also include a matching travel bag which helps with storing them away safely as well. As always Zoeva brushes clean beautifully with no staining and rarely any shedding. My last brush collection from theres did suffer some damage to its gold handle (after a year of use), so I do hope that they've improved that with this collection - although so far so good.
126 Luxe Cheek Finish: This guy will be your bff when it comes to bronzing your face. like go berserk with it. please. contour the hell out of your forehead. turn yourself into a lemur. go girl go.
109 Luxe Face Paint: After using the 126 I use this to contour my nose and cheekbones if needed. It's sort of like a cross between the Nars Ita brush and the Benefit Hoola Bronzer brush.
221 Luxe Crease Brush: Boyyyyy your transition shade game will change forever. The longer length of the bristles just help you move the shadow where you want it to go. god bless.
228 Luxe Crease: I like using this one completely clean of any product or with a nude shadow to soften the overall transition shade. What a champ.
There was only one brush however that I didn't get along with at all - the 104 Buffer brush. I was hoping that since it was a kabuki style brush that it would do wonders for my overall foundation quality, although unfortunately it was just generally too stiff to disperse liquid foundation effortlessly and was slightly scratchy. yikes.
Overall I'm impressed yet again by the company's efforts to create such an affordable yet luxurious collection of brushes. I genuinely believe you can build your entire brush collection from Zoeva Brushes alone without needing to source outside the brand - unless your a makeup junkie like I am. If you are thinking of purchasing from them I would encourage you to at least try their eye brushes, you really won't find anything like it for the price they're offering. I hope they do continue to explore into other cosmetics since they nail pretty much everything they bring to the market, I'm excited to see what they'll bring to us next. (The more gold accents the better)
